Star Sapphire is a rock trinket added in The Reheated Update.

Effects

• Spawns the Star Sapphire as an orbital familiar that blocks projectiles and deals 50% of Golem's damage in contact damage per tick.
• The Star Sapphire familiar wobbles in a loose orbit around Golem, and attempts to point itself towards the nearest enemy or enemy projectile.

Notes

• If Star Sapphire is looking at a target for more than 2 seconds, it will attempt to switch to another target.
• Projectiles have a higher priority than enemies themselves, and Star Sapphire will prefer to target any projectiles in the room even if there is an enemy that is much closer to Golem than the projectiles.

Interactions

• Trinket Multipliers / Henge Rock: No effect.
• Azurite Spindown: Using Azurite Spindown on Star Sapphire rerolls it into Amazonite.

Trivia

• Star Sapphire is a reference to the Touhou Project character of the same name. She made her first appearance in the manga Touhou Sangetsusei.
  • The trinket's flavor text is a reference to Star Sapphire's main ability of being able to detect movement across almost any distance.
• Star sapphires are a variety of sapphire gemstones that exhibit asterism — a phenomena where a gemstone creates a star-shaped concentration of reflected or refracted light.
